My book
A high fantasy novel, currently being written.
A thousand years ago, humanity rose up and killed its gods. Their bodies never rotted.
Now the remains of the gods power everything in Kruxia: the weapons, the noble houses, and the great cities built on top of them. But drawing on a god's relic fills you with their divine strength at unknown costs, gunpowder is tipping the balance between the great houses, and the true story of how the gods fell is buried under a thousand years' worth of falsehoods.
The book is set across five cultures, all descended from one shattered civilization, each built around the gods it inherited, or refused.
- Genre: high fantasy
- Setting: the continent of Kruxia, about 1,050 years after the fall of the gods
- Status: in progress
The world
Five peoples, one continent, and the remains of the gods between them.
Caldris
The capital of industry
Built where the last god fell and fueled by the fire god's heart. The biggest, smokiest, most powerful city on the continent, and its coin is spent almost everywhere.
Keldrath
The mountain people
An isolated clan in mountains that keep growing, ruled by an Archive Council that guards knowledge from before the fall. Outsiders aren't allowed in.
Saeloryn
The people of the sea
A terraced city climbing a cliff above the bay, watered by the heart of the sea god. Its merchants are loyal to whoever pays the most.
Oshvarai
The people of the desert
Six rival states sharing one aquifer, chilled by the body of the ice god and governed by the Measure, the independent body that controls the water.
Vardruun
The people of the ice
Founded by soldiers who deserted Caldris and swore off god relics entirely. Only those who have served can vote.

Student journalist, storyteller, writer.
I'm Marc Corteguera, a student journalist, storyteller, and writer at Christopher Columbus High School in Miami.
I report and produce video packages for CCNN Live, our school's broadcast news program. I also build websites, from student media outlets like CCNN Live and The Log to sites for local businesses, teams, and clubs.
Outside the newsroom, I write fiction: short stories, and a fantasy novel set across five cultures that I'm working on now.
